  • Going on vacation? Don't miss out on your reserves.

If you are planning a vacation and you don't want to miss your reserves you can suspend your account for the time you will be away. You enter your return date and the reserves will be re-activated. If you need help in doing this call the library's reference desk at 357-1237 ext. 19.
  • Book suggestions for summer reading

Do you have a favorite (or two) that you have read recently and that you think would be great fun reads for your friends and neighbors? I just finished a first novel that I liked a lot. It is MUDBOUND byHillary Jordan and it is my current favorite to recommend.  For my summer reading I am looking forward to new books by Alice Hoffman and Ellen Gilchrest. What are you reading?
  • New 14 day loan for TV series DVDS

Several people requested an extended loan period on tv series. The library is happy to change that time period so that more people can consider borrowing the long series.
  • "When you call to tell me a book is in why don't you tell me the title?"

The library volunteers who make the calls get asked this question often. Libraries are bound by NY State law to protect the privacy of  library records. When our volunteers make phone calls to alert people that a reserve book has come in, they are only given the name and phone number of the person to be called and are not given the titles of the item being held. If you need to know the title that is being held you can call the library and give them your library barcode number and the staff member you speak to can look up the title for you.  Even more convenient perhaps is to sign up for email notification where you will get an email that includes the title of the item on hold for you.
  • Did you ever read a book that you liked so much...

that you want to recommend it to everyone? This summer my favorite book was WATER FOR ELEPHANTS by Sara Gruen.  It's a wonderful story about a circus experience, and it's told in reminiscences from a 93 year old man.  I recommend it. I always welcome book recommendations so feel free to post your favorite books.

P.S. WATER FOR ELEPHANTS is exceptional in audio book format as well.

  • Learn about due dates before your books are overdue!

A new feature of the computer system is a "pre-overdue" notice delivered to your email.  If you have signed up for email notification of reserve books or overdue notices, you will now also receive a pre-notification three days before the items are due. This will keep you from having overdue notices, or alert you to renew an item if renewal is possible.  This courtesy notice will not be available on the dvds or videos that have a three day loan period.
